Glastonbury Connecticut Public Shooting Range

Pattern in your Turkey Shotgun loads now to increase your odd's this spring.

The Glastonbury Shooting Range is located in the Meshomasic State Forest in Glastonbury and has been in operation since 1980.

Federal funding for site improvements, range equipment and seasonal staffing is provided through the Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration Program, commonly referred to as the Pittman-Robertson Act (more info). Connecticut receives a special allocation of federal funding that can be used for the construction, operation, maintenance and enhancement of public target and shooting ranges.

The Glastonbury Range will be open weekends for public use from April 7 through November 25, 2018.

Special Provisions for Spring Turkey Hunters
NEW! On the weekends of April 14-15 and April 21-22, 2018, range hours will be extended for spring turkey hunters to pattern their shotguns. Participants must arrive at the range by 2:00 PM and show a valid 2018 Resident Game Bird Conservation Stamp. Reservations for this special time slot are NOT accepted or required (walk-in only).

Our rights are in trouble folks, no easy way to put it. 

H7075 Bump Stock Ban, and H7688 Red Flag bill are both being called up for consideration. These bills were already heard in committee and "held for further study", we will not have a chance for another public comment. These bills are being called up in order to be voted out of committee and off to floor vote. History shows that a bill called up from further study means it's going to floor vote and has a LOT of support for passage. There is not much we can do except contact our senators and reps, and show up at the state house hoping our mere presence gives legislators second thoughts.

Neither of these bills have changed from the original versions. Red Flag has zero due process for false accusations of firearm owners, and Bump Stock ban still includes "rapid fire device" which can be interpreted later by the AG to include anything they wish! 

If able to attend wear yellow, be respectfully but help pack the State House!

She needs a little help raising some funds to go to Dallas at the NRA Convention to represent all the teenagers who truly love what they do with proper training and mentoring with all types of firearms.

Ok everyone. So it looks like I will be going to Dallas for the NRA Convention !! I cant thank everyone enough !! I'm going to keep the Go Fund Me Campaign going just the same. Its gonna take about a week to process everything and I'm sure the plane tickets will increase some by this time next week over what they are right now. ALL additional above the original goal will go towards match fees this year as well as my Range Safety Officer, Instructor and Glock Armorer courses and continuing to work on my other 2A Youth Advocacy. If the timing works out, I may wind up going to DC this Summer with Diane Liedorf's DC Women's Group to lobby members of Congress to respect our Rights and uphold their Oaths of Office. It would be my first time traveling alone and I will need to find a roommate with one of the other ladies that are shooters for the weekend.

Registration for popular program that helps

Rhode Islanders save energy, money opens April 2^nd

 

PROVIDENCE – The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM) is teaming up once again with the Arbor Day Foundation, Rhode Island Tree Council, and the Rhode Island Nursery and Landscape Association to give away 1,000 trees as part of the State’s Energy-Saving Trees Program. The Program, now in its sixth season, helps homeowners conserve energy and reduce utility costs while beautifying their neighborhood. 

 

"We’re excited to join with the Arbor Day Foundation and our local partners this spring to offer free trees to Rhode Islanders,” said DEM Director Janet Coit. “Be sure to register early, because this program is extremely popular and most trees are spoken for within days of registration opening.  Planting a tree is a great way for homeowners to reduce their monthly expenses while promoting a healthier environment and creating a beautiful memory with their families.”   

 

Trees play an important role in cooling streets and homes, filtering air, and reducing stormwater pollution. The trees distributed under the Energy-Saving Trees Program are approximately four to six feet tall and will be distributed in three-gallon containers for easy transport.  The Rhode Island Tree Council will provide planting and care instruction to homeowners – as well as guidance on how to maximize energy-savings.  When planted properly, a single mature tree can save $30 annually in heating and cooling costs. 

 

Registration opens on Monday, April 2 and is required in order to reserve a tree. Supplies go fast, so early registration is recommended.  For more information and/or to register for the program, visit www.arborday.org/RIDEM.  Trees can be picked up during one of the following pick-up events:

Community Fly Tying Program- Cross Mills Public Library

Come in from the cold and prepare for the spring fly fishing season. DEM Division of Fish & Wildlife’s Aquatic Resource Education program invites participants to learn how to make their own fresh water flies over several weeks to then use them at a private fly fishing event. No experience is necessary, and no fishing license is required to participate in this program. Families with children 10 and older are encouraged to attend. Equipment will be provided or you may bring your own. Registration is required.
