Any one else getting the urge to dig a hole ?
While the earthen dam ponds water levels are being lowered throughout New England, take a few photos with that new style phone of all the structure that is now being exposed before snow and ice and re-filling to increase your results next year. Use houses or trees as markers. Remember at least three inches before you go out with a friend and a spud. I think we will get out early this year so check your ice fishing gear while you are storing away this seasons gear. Remember the more preparation will pay off with a better experience. The dates are being set now for Feb.7-8, 2015 $50,000 Meridith Rotary in NH, Maine State Wide Pike Derby"Cancer Cure" Date ? and the Sebago Lake Derby $100,000 is Feb. 14-15, 2015 and is a free fishing weekend in Maine. Yes "NO" fishing license required that weekend and the Between the Cracks Ice Tournament in R.I. is always the week end before the NFL Super Bowl. The super bowl is Feb.1st so I would think this derby would be Jan.30th or before Jan.24th. I going to try a propane or electric auger this year and we will be field testing some new brands and models plus a few jigging lures for the manufactures again this year. Watch for our free Ice Fishing Clinic dates because they always fill up fast. Still need a few more volunteers ? Wayne
