KVD Scores 25th Bassmaster Elite Win at Grand Lake O' the Cherokees

Posted by
Kevin Van Dam of Kalamazoo, Michigan, laid further claim to being the top tournament basser of all time with his 25th Elite Series win at Grand Lake O' the Cherokees in Oklahoma Sunday, weighing a four day total of 83 pounds, 4 ounces to win the event and the $100,000 first prize going away. It was Van Dam's second Elite win on Grand Lake.

Details of Van Dam's win have not been posted as we go to press, but photos of his final day on the water indicate most of his fish came on small crawfish colored squarebill crankbaits fished around boat docks, rocky shorelines and narrow creeks.

Tommy Biffle was second with 78-2, and Roy Hawk third with 77-0. Most anglers hammered the shorelines for spawning fish.

New England Trapping provides valuable information for the Biologist's in every State DEM. Join your State Trapping Associations and learn the tradition from the best.

Trout Unlimited and your local Fly Fishing Clubs provide great classes to pass the winter, unless you are a Hard Water Fisher.
Watch for the many Ice Fishing Tournaments that are growing throughout New England. If your group needs a PSA, just e-mail us at waynewnri@yahoo.com

Try Carp fishing with Marshmallow and Maise you could be surprised with a 30lb. fresh water fish ! Freshen up with new fishing line and please use circle hooks to eliminate a injury. If you are going to fill a void and try for one of the big carp remember, ( NO) lip lock tool or lifting from their delicate gill plates which may be fatal. Use the Carp nets that will save the fish for another fisher.

Want to learn more about the Outdoor's ? Try joining your local Rod and Gun Club and talk to the older members for the best in mentoring.

Head boats out of Point Judith, Galilee Cod Trips produce.

New England wild turkey hunting is producing longer beards this year with the lack of last years snow cover.

Black Bear sightings are on the rise in Connecticut and Rhode Island and with a mild winter and no hunting season in either State the sightings will increase. Do not attract them to your property is the best defense.
