Old tale is when the Dandelions are in the first bloom of spring the Catfish are on the feedbag.
Well now with advent of social media and newer style phones taking pictures that are dated and some with a GPS Locator I can tell you that the Connecticut River and other bodies of fresh water are ripe for a filet or two. If on a river look for a area with a tree down which makes a strategic slow down of the current for the Catfish to select a item from the menu .Just below a dam is another strategic location and try using some chum before you start your trip. If using corn watch for trout stocked waters in some states where it is a no-no. Use a bluegill live lined or a fresh night crawler and set your drag ahead or use a bait runner style reel to avoid the strong catfish from taking your whole combo. Connecticut has done a outstanding job stocking the catfish the last few years and this fishing season for the catfish should be excellent. Show us your catch and photos to complete the survey.
