Industry Leaders Back NH Armed Citizen, Defensive Carry Match

DUNBARTON, NH⎯
Pioneer Sportsmen, Inc.'s Smith & Wesson "Live Free or Die" AC-DC State Championship October 3-4 drew more than just the 200 plus shooters participating. The club's third annual International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) sanctioned match also drew over $17,000 in industry sponsorship.

The following individuals earned top honors winning their respective division:

Lee Adams, Compact Carry Pistol
Andrew Marocchini, Custom Defensive Pistol
Mason Lane, Enhanced Service Pistol
Gene Gelberger, Revolver
Tom Yost, Stock Service Pistol

The match theme, "AC-DC" stands for "Armed Citizen, Defensive Carry", keeping with IDPA's mission promoting the use of practical handguns and equipment suitable for self-defense. The competitors shot 12 challenging stages simulating variety of scenarios. These included defending against active shooters in a theater under low light conditions, a convenience store robbery, and a home invasion, often engaging targets while moving to positions of cover, shooting from cover, dealing with suddenly appearing and disappearing "bad guys", while avoiding hitting "innocent" targets in the line of fire.

"IDPA reinforces safe gun handling. Competitors must at all times keep their muzzles pointed in a safe direction and only touch the trigger while engaging targets. Organized shooting sports instill safe and responsible firearm ownership and are a major reason behind industry sponsorship" explained Jon Wolfe, IDPA Chairperson and Match Director with Pioneer.

The match also raised over $3,000 in competitor donations and a raffle to benefit Active Heroes' Carry the Fallen (CTF) campaign to prevent veteran suicides. QLine Design (Kingston, NH) donated a hand crafted "concealment" night stand valued at $1,500 as the raffle prize. The match this past weekend coincides with CTF board member and fellow IDPA shooter U.S. Army Major Justin Fitch's (Ret.) passing. Pioneer Sportsmen, and club member Chris Tessier, has long been associated with Justin's efforts, contributing over $10,000 year-to-date toward his Final Mission.

"Congratulations to our division champions and everyone who participated. We further thank all of our sponsors and selfless commitment of our certified safety officers and match staff, not just from Pioneer, but across the region, for contributing to make the "Live Free or Die" championship one of the premier practical shooting events in New England."
In addition to Smith & Wesson, major industry sponsors included (in alphabetical order):

Blue Bullets
Critial Defense Institute

Glock
Highlander Arms
Ibejiheads Coated Bullets
