CONCORD, N.H. - Rule hearings on two proposed changes affecting fishing tournaments will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, May 1, 2015, at the N.H. Fish and Game Department, 11 Hazen Drive, Concord, N.H. The changes are relatively minor "housekeeping" items, according to N.H. Fish and Game Fisheries Chief Jason Smith.

The Fish and Game Department is proposing to allow open-water tournaments that target rock bass and which have been conducted continuously since prior to January 1, 2008, to be held on waterbodies managed as lake trout and salmon waters under Fis 406.04, provided that the permit is renewed annually.

Another proposal would allow possession of live fish and culling of black bass by participants in intra-scholastic fishing tournaments. This practice is standard in the majority of black bass fishing tournaments.

The complete rulemaking notice, with original and proposed rule language for these proposals, can be viewed at http://www.wildlife.state.nh.us/Legislative/Notices_summary.htm (click on "Exceptions to Restrictions for Fishing Tournaments - Rock Bass" or "Intra-scholastic Fishing Tournaments").

Written comments must be received by May 8. Send to: comments@wildlife.nh.gov (use the rule name in your subject line"); or write to Executive Director, N.H. Fish and Game Department, 11 Hazen Drive, Concord, NH 03301; or fax to 603-271-5829.
