Col. Kevin Jordan Takes Helm as Fish and Game Law Enforcement Chief

Posted by Wayne G. Barber

CONCORD, N.H. – Kevin J. Jordan of Brentwood, N.H., was recently promoted to the rank of Colonel and has taken the helm as the new Law Enforcement Division Chief at the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department.

"Colonel Kevin Jordan's valuable work ethic and high level of professionalism have earned him the respect of both his peers and the Department's constituents," said Fish and Game Director Glenn Normandeau. "These traits have been broadened during his tenure with this department, but no doubt were instilled in him by his upbringing and work experiences."

Jordan has served with the N.H. Fish and Game Department for more than twenty years. He previously had been a full-time officer for the Whitefield, N.H. Police Department for four years. In 1994, the Fish and Game Department swore him in as a Conservation Officer assigned to the Lancaster area. He was present on August 19, 1997, when Carl Drega went on a killing spree in Colebrook, N.H., taking the lives of two N.H. State Troopers and two Colebrook residents and wounding a Fish and Game Officer. In the aftermath, Jordan was selected to become a critical incident specialist, often helping others cope after traumatic experiences.

In 2004, Jordan was promoted to District Lieutenant, assigned to supervise the COs in District Five in south-central New Hampshire. In 2009, he became the Conservation Officer Captain, assigned to Headquarters. There, he was responsible for the Off-Highway Recreational Vehicle (OHRV) Program, successfully upholding the Department’s ability to perform Snowmobile Sobriety Checkpoints, which was challenged at the District Court level, and convicting a hit-and-run snow machine operator of a Class B felony for striking a dogsled team. In 2010, Jordan was promoted to Major and became Fish and Game’s Assistant Chief of Law Enforcement.
Jordan has served as President of the New Hampshire Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Association, Charter Member of the Search and Rescue Team, member of the Critical Incident Response and Airboat Rescue teams, Firearms Instructor, and a Fatal OHRV Accident Inspector.

In 2014, Jordan received the United States Veterans of Foreign Wars Life Saving Award in recognition of efficient life-saving action without thought to his personal safety.

"We are confident that Kevin's innovative ideas, positive outlook, tenacity, life experience, patience, dedication and perseverance exhibited throughout his tenure will continue to serve him well as Fish and Game’s Chief of Law Enforcement," said Normandeau.
